Important Information

It’s very important to refrain from eating or drinking anything (including water) the night before your surgery, unless informed otherwise by your surgeon or a Mid Valley Surgery Center staff member.

If you are taking any medications, please be sure to check with your doctor about how they may affect your procedure.

If you are a woman who is pregnant or may be pregnant, please inform your surgeon right away.

Please arrange for a trusted family member or friend to take you home following your procedure. You will not be allowed to drive following surgery.

After Your Surgery

Immediately following surgery, you will be taken to the recovery room. Recovery time may vary from patient to patient. One friend or family member at a time will be allowed to join you in the recovery room when possible.

Leaving the Surgery Center

Please be sure you understand all the instructions given to you by your physician and our nurses before you leave the surgery center. Feel free to ask our staff questions for clarification. It is not uncommon to feel dizzy or fatigued following surgery. We suggest that you go home and rest for the entire day following surgery. It is also vital that you do not drive, operate machinery or drink alcohol for at least 24 hours following your surgery.

We recommend that you ask a trusted family member or friend to stay with you the night after your surgery. Should you experience any complications or difficulties resulting from the surgery after you return home, please contact your surgeon immediately. If the surgeon is unavailable and you need urgent attention, dial 911 for emergency services or go to the nearest emergency room.
